Temperament Testing:

Over a period of years we have developed a Temperament Testing Process that is all our own.  We have borrowed and learned from others, and then honed our skills.  We added and subtracted different elements until we came up with a process we believe to be comprohensive and accurate.  It never ceases to amaze us
when we get to the "intelligence" and/or "the birdiness" portion of the test as to which pups excell.  Often the pup that seems somewhat reserved suddenly show strong interest in scent, wings, retrieving, and even points.
Normally, when we are matching puppies the ones with the strong-potential go to hunters.  The others are placed win companion homes.  During the process we look at the strongest hunters and also determine which of the homes would best match as well.  In some cases there may not be any choice:  for example a Blue Only Female and we have "1" Blue Female.  If that female is suitable for placement to that family and there is a level of commitment from them we are not going to pull the only Blue Female out of their home.  It simply would not be fair.  Some of these people wait for months for a specific sex and color pup or a certain mating.  So, just to be clear there are always exceptions, but they are rare.  We strive to follow our guidelines and to keep things fair.
So in simple terms we work down the Waiting List from top to bottom, but there is somewhat of a juggling act going on as well.  We have all of these elements in play:

1.  Some people want a certain sex pup--any color.
2.  Some people want a certain sex pup--a certain color.
3.  Some people want a certain sex pup from a specific mating.
4.  Some people want a certain mating, certain sex, and certain color.

And the list of options goes on.  It is always a juggling act.  We hope this helps you understand a bit more about the process and how it works.
