Cliff and Shela

OwyheeStar (pronounced Oh - Y - He - Star) makes its home in far Eastern Oregon near the Idaho border. Cliff and Shela Nielsen have resided on the family farm for most of their lives. For Cliff, this amounts to 60-plus years. Cliff grew on the farm and after he and Shela were married, they managed to build a home on adjacent property.

Like so many Weimlovers, Cliff's Weim-fascination goes back a long way. The roots of his Weim addiction can be found early in life. Like many post WWII homes, Cliff's family acquired their first Weimaraner. ( Click Here! ) Most of you who understand the effect of a Weimaraner on your childhood memories can also understand that unforgettable experience. Now many years later, countless Weims have left paw prints on our hearts.  Each Weimararner was special in their own way; Each leaving a giant set of paw prints, along with memories on our hearts. The Weimaraner is even more of an addiction.

So now we are in the business of helping others make those kinds of memories. In a high-tech world that finds us being in demand on every side what better companion than an elegant Velco goes everywhere companion.

The Weimaraner is a versatile hunting dog. Nonetheless, most Weimaraners are placed with either casual hunters or non-hunting families. For these families, it becomes extra important to get their fur-family member engaged and included in the family activities. Exercise is vital! As the saying goes--"A tired Weim is a good Weim." Nevertheless, during the first 12 months, it is important to limit high-impact exercise due to the growth plates being open. Even a non-hunter is well-served to have a water-retrieving Weimaraner.

With so many joining non-hunting families this doesn't mean they have been forgotten by the hunter. There is a growing number of hunters returning to or discovering the Weimaraner. One reason for this phenomena the average age of a bird hunter has kept rising. Some hunters prefer the less-ranging hunting companion as they find they cannot keep up with some of the other more-driven breed. Another reason might be that many prefer the Weimaraner as their family dog.

For those who are serious hunters, Cliff (Email Cliff) has been working a long time to achieve an extra ordinary outcome in the field. These lineages are 'proven' through hunt tests. Of course, no matter what anyone says the true proof of a fine hunting companion is your personal field experience.
